It is very difficult to fully accept it is not about us, but about Christ. The lie of satan continually pounds the soul life. Col. 3 tell us:
1 ¶ Therefore if you have been raised up with Christ, keep seeking the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.
2 Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth.
3 For you have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God.
4 When Christ, who is our life, is revealed, then you also will be revealed with Him in glory.
Living in the new nature, living with the motivations and drives of the second Adam, is a faith endeavor. It can’t be any other way. God is not just going to “fall” on us. Those who are waiting for some type of individual fulfillment to happen to them will wait forever. It won’t happen. Our lives are hid with Christ in God. Or, as Paul once said, “It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me.” This does not mean we reach some type of refined state where we walk around feeling spiritual all the time. It means we learn to live in another person’s life altogether, and that person is Jesus Christ.
Individual achievement and attainment, even in God, belong to the soul realm. Fulfillment will not come in this realm. As long as we live on this level, we are restricted from walking in all that God has prepared for us. Yes, God loves and blesses us in this realm, but He is limited in how much of Himself He can give us. The Adamic soul realm is a giant limitation. It is in this realm that we have had a false hope ministered to us. All the messages of sonship mean nothing if we are simply waiting to experience them. There is never going to be a time when glorious things just happen. There will be no rapture suddenly catching us up in wonderful experiences. This is all deception, sown by satan, to cut off the one means by which we CAN experience all the provision of Christ. Oh, yes, there is a wonderful relationship with God to be walked in, beyond what we have known. There is a way we experience all the fullness of God in us. There is a way we partake of His love unhindered by any limitation.
From the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and violent men take it by force.
What is this violence that takes the kingdom by force? It certainly is not the violence of the soul realm such as young Marine firepissers taking a beachhead. No, it is not generated out of the soul life at all. It is a violence of spirit such as gripped Paul: “That I may lay hold of that for which also I was laid hold of by Christ Jesus.” The Great Lie is that we are waiting for God to do something. It has already been done! It remains for a people to enter into it. Listen to what Jesus says to those on His right hand in the parable of the sheep and the goats:
“Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.”
“The kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.” It is already here! It is all a matter of moving into it. I am convinced there is not one thing that will be manifested here in the physical realm that is not first walked in and experienced in our spirits first. This is the faith initiative of grace. Our initial salvation begins with “by grace, through faith,” and this principle carries us all the way through to completion. We dare to believe God because His grace enables us and justifies us. We are never going to be victorious or “feel” spiritual in ourselves. Fleeting moments is all we can expect from the self realm. We are up and down, sideways and around, in our soul lives. But Christ’s life is constant. We MUST step out of the soul realm of the first Adam and live in the spirit realm of Christ. It really is this simple. It only seems hard because we have been so conditioned in our Adamic minds to accept limitations and think on the “I, me” wavelength. We accept Christ’s provision for us. We stand on the basis of His worthiness, not our own. With a violence of spirit we stand on His word. We may appear at times to be the ugliest of God’s creatures, but what are we going to believe? Do you see? It is a faith endeavor.
This message is about entering into Christ’s life. It is about stepping into His world, and leaving Adam’s behind. It is has been said many times now, it is not about us, but about Him. This is what it means to lay aside individual fulfillment. Do we want a soul realm fulfillment where “we” get something from God as an individual, or do we want a higher fulfillment where we partake of all that is Christ’s? It is always the way of the cross, isn’t it? We die to one realm to live in another.
