Keep Yourselves in the Love of God

20  But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit,
21  keep yourselves in the love of God, waiting anxiously for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to eternal life.

We are exhorted by Jude to keep ourselves in the love of God. What does this mean? Can we slip out of God’s love? Only in our awareness. To maintain an awareness of God’s presence in our lives, and to walk in immunity from the vulnerabilities of the flesh nature, we must live on a level conducive to experiencing these things. How do we do this? By keeping the vibration of our spirit on a level compatible with God’s. Unlike the religious realm, the realm of spirit is very scientific. There are certain things we can do to lift the vibration of our spirits in such a way as to bring us into an awareness of God’s presence. If the term vibration is troublesome, we can substitute the term intensity. When we approach God’s intensity in our spirits, we experience communion with Him. When we allow the vibration or intensity of our spirits to sink low, we become vulnerable to the demonic realm and to our own fallen natures. We also lose our awareness of God’s love and blessing in our lives.

So, how do we raise the vibration of our spirits? The simplest way is through consciously opening our hearts to the Lord and worshipping Him. Worship immediately lifts our spirits into a higher realm. It’s important to realize that worship is an initiative we take in our own hearts. It doesn’t matter how we feel, we exercise our will and choose to place ourselves in an attitude of worship. If we are feeling defeated or beaten down, our spirits are like a dimly burning candle. When we consciously, deliberately, set our hearts to worship, it’s like stoking a fire. The vibration of our spirit increases and the “flame” brightens.

It cannot be overstated how important our personal initiative is in this process. James 4:7 says, “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.” Spiritual maturity is measured in how effectively we take the initiative to stay in the Lord’s presence. We don’t yet fully perceive how much the satanic powers war to keep us out of the conscious awareness of the Lord’s presence. We must understand the battle will always be against our mental and emotional faculties to keep us in a dull state. The enemy’s greatest trick is to make us think it’s “just us.”

So much is at stake right now. There must be those who arise and take possession of the Kingdom.

Dan. 7:
21  “I kept looking, and that horn was waging war with the saints and overpowering them
22  until the Ancient of Days came and judgment was passed in favor of the saints of the Highest One, and the time arrived when the saints took possession of the kingdom.

There will be no possessing the Kingdom without first having an awareness of it. This is where the battle lies. This is also why God has made such an issue of bonds. We break bonds, not only with worldly relationships, but with modes of thinking and feelings within us, so that we are free to attain the highest possible awareness of God’s love and grace toward us. We must keep ourselves in the love of God.
