1st John 5
14 ¶ This is the confidence which we have before Him, that, if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.
15 And if we know that He hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests which we have asked from Him.
If we ask anything according to God’s will, He hears us. Now, that sounds simple enough. But the problem is knowing His will! Have you ever had times when your prayers were met with silence? Or worse yet, the feeling that you might as well be talking to rocks? Asking according to God’s will needs to be defined. We can better understand God’s response to our prayers if we picture God’s will as a realm, not a mandate. We must be in the right realm for Him to hear. God does not respond to our requests many times because we ask from a realm that is not rooted in Him. Our prayers and requests do not compute. Imagine a young child asking their parents an impossible question. The parents cannot answer the question because there has been no foundation laid in the child’s mind to understand the concept of the question. Continue reading
